eb498cfa0c Feature/category hierarchy and account search (#2845)
* Add parent/child category hierarchy to all category selects; add search to account select

Category selection consistency:
- DS::Select (shared component powering the main transaction form,
  transaction edit, bulk-update, and transfer category pickers) now
  indents subcategories with a corner-down-right icon, matching the
  existing transaction-row category dropdown.
- Feed DS::Select-based category pickers with Category.alphabetically_by_hierarchy
  (parent name, then parent-before-children, then own name) so children
  render directly under their parent.
- Added Category::Group.select_options, a shared helper producing
  parent-then-child ordered options (with an indent marker) for plain
  HTML <select> elements. Used by:
  - Rule builder category condition/action selects
  - Bulk 'categorize transactions' select
  - CSV/QIF import category mapping select
- Grouped the splits category combobox and the transaction search
  category filter checklist the same way, both with the
  corner-down-right indent icon used elsewhere.

Account selection:
- Added searchable: true to the account select in the new/edit
  transaction form, matching the category and merchant selects next
  to it.

* Fix SyntaxError: 'for' is a Ruby reserved keyword

Category::Group.select_options called for(categories) as a bare method
call, but Ruby parses a bare 'for' as the start of a for..in loop
statement, not a method invocation. Qualify it as self.for(categories)
to call the class method explicitly.

Verified with 'ruby -c' on all touched .rb files and ERB.new(...).src
on all touched .erb files.

* Add test coverage for category hierarchy and account search

Model-level:
- Category::GroupTest (new): for() grouping and the new select_options
  helper (order + indent labels).
- CategoryTest: alphabetically_by_hierarchy scope ordering.
- Rule::ConditionFilter::TransactionCategoryTest (new)
- Rule::ActionExecutor::SetTransactionCategoryTest (new)
- Import::CategoryMappingTest (new): grouping + 'Add as new category'
  still prepends correctly.

Controller/integration-level (asserting actual rendered HTML order):
- SplitsControllerTest: category combobox data-value ordering.
- Transactions::CategorizesControllerTest: bulk-categorize <select>
  option ordering.
- TransactionsControllerTest:
  - search filter checkbox ordering (q[categories][])
  - new-transaction DS::Select category ordering (via trigger id +
    ancestor traversal)
  - new-transaction account select renders a search box

All new/modified test files verified with 'ruby -c' (syntax) and
cross-checked fixture names, family scoping, route helpers, and field
names against the actual fixtures/routes/views. Ruby/Bundler network
access to rubygems.org is unavailable in this sandbox, so the suite
itself has not been executed — run 'bin/rails test' before merging.

* Align with design-sure conventions: keep domain logic in component, not template

Per .cursor/rules/view_conventions.mdc ('keep domain logic out of the
views'), the parent/child hierarchy check for DS::Select items belongs
in the component class, not inline in the ERB template. DS::Select
already has this exact pattern for other per-item derived properties
(color_for, icon_for, logo_for) — added child? alongside them and
updated the template to call it instead of computing it inline.

Added test/components/DS/select_test.rb (ViewComponent::TestCase,
no rendering needed) covering child? directly: subcategory objects,
root-category objects, non-hierarchical objects (merchants), and the
include_blank placeholder item.

Also did a broader pass against the design-sure .cursor/rules to confirm
the rest of this branch's changes already comply:
- Uses Current.family (never current_family) throughout
- Uses the icon() helper exclusively, never lucide_icon directly
- No new/hardcoded colors; only existing semantic Tailwind tokens
  already used elsewhere in these same files
- No changes to sure-design-system.css / application.css
- Extended existing components/partials rather than creating new ones
  where one already existed (view_conventions.mdc component-vs-partial
  guidance)
- Test additions stay in Minitest + fixtures, avoid system tests,
  and test query-method output directly (testing.mdc)

* Address CodeRabbit review: sort category groups, tighten test assertion, move grouping out of view

* Address review: fix arrow leak in rule summaries, filter panel alignment, simplify splits ordering

Brandon WolfandClaude Fable 5 5accc90a81 fix(splits): let category selector size to its content instead of clipping names (#2962)
* fix(splits): let category selector size to its content instead of clipping names

- Replace the fixed md:w-44 column with flex-initial + md:min-w-44/md:max-w-72
  so the button grows with the selected category name
- Truncate the badge label in an inner span with a native title tooltip and a
  max-w-64 cap, keeping the color dot from shrinking
- Widen the dropdown to md:w-80 so option badges stay readable
- select_controller: stop forcing the menu width to 100% inline (the markup's
  width classes now decide) and anchor the menu to the button's right edge
  when it would overflow the scroll container

Fixes #2934

* refactor(splits): render category badges via DS::Pill

- Options render the canonical categories/badge partial; the button renders
  the same DS::Pill directly (a button only allows phrasing content, so the
  partial's div wrapper stays out). category_badge_select's clone selector
  follows the pill markup.
- The client-side row template in split_transaction_controller gets the same
  md:min-w-28 name-field floor as the server-rendered rows.

Guillem Arias FausteandJuan José Mata 8e444ff98b feat(design-system): add DS::SearchInput primitive (closes #1715 §3) (#1853)
* feat(design-system): add DS::SearchInput + migrate 2 broken-focus callsites

Resolves #1715 §3.

Two standalone search-field callsites — `/settings/preferences`
currency filter and `/settings/providers` filter row — had a hand-
rolled markup that ended in `focus:ring-gray-500`. That utility has
no backing token in the design system (`ring-gray-500` isn't in
Tailwind's default + Sure doesn't register a gray ring color), so
the input rendered with zero focus indicator on a bordered
bg-container surface. Keyboard users couldn't tell when the field
was focused.

Introduce `DS::SearchInput` — icon-on-left, bordered, token-backed
focus ring matching the DS::Button pattern landing in #1840
(`outline-2 outline-offset-2 outline-gray-900` with the dark-mode
override). API:

  DS::SearchInput.new(
    name: "...",
    placeholder: "...",
    value: ...,
    aria_label: "...",   # defaults to placeholder
    class: "...", # passed to the wrapper
    **opts # spread onto the <input>, e.g. data-*
  )

Migrate the two broken callsites. Three other "search" patterns
stay as-is (out of scope for this PR):

- `form.search_field :search` inside `styled_form_with` blocks
  (accounts/show/_activity.html.erb, UI::Account::ActivityFeed) —
  already routes through StyledFormBuilder's form-field CSS.
- Embedded-dropdown search input inside DS::Select, DS::Menu, and
  the splits/category-select panels — uses a different shape
  (no border, no ring) because the parent panel provides the chrome.
- Category dropdown's combobox search input
  (app/views/category/dropdowns/show.html.erb) — has a custom
  `role=combobox` flow and stays intentionally distinct.

* feat(design-system): add embedded variant to DS::SearchInput, migrate 2 more callsites

Adds `variant: :embedded` to `DS::SearchInput` for search inputs that
live *inside* another DS panel (DS::Select dropdown, splits category
filter, future DS::Popover-hosted filters). No own border / no own
focus ring — the parent panel provides the chrome, so adding ring
+ outline competes with its `focus-within` state.

API:

  DS::SearchInput.new(variant: :embedded, placeholder: "...", data: {...})

The `:standalone` default (from the previous commit) stays unchanged
and remains the right choice for top-of-list filter inputs.

Migrated:

- `app/components/DS/select.html.erb` — the in-dropdown search input
  for `DS::Select.new(searchable: true)`. Was the only remaining
  internal raw <input type="search"> markup in the component.

- `app/views/splits/_category_select.html.erb` — split-transaction
  category picker filter. Same shape as DS::Select's search but
  hand-rolled because the picker isn't a vanilla DS::Select.

Three other search patterns stay out of scope (intentionally, per
the previous commit):

- `form.search_field :search` inside `styled_form_with` — uses
  form-field CSS, different visual contract.
- `app/views/category/dropdowns/show.html.erb` — bespoke
  `role="combobox"` flow with `aria-expanded` / `aria-autocomplete`
  semantics that don't belong in this primitive.

* fix(review): mobile font + embedded variant focus-within ring

- DS::SearchInput: switch text-sm -> text-base sm:text-sm on both
  variants so the input keeps its 16px base size on mobile. iOS
  Safari zooms the viewport when a focused input is below 16px,
  which the unconditional text-sm was triggering on the Settings
  Preferences currency search and Settings Bank Sync provider
  search.

- DS::Select (searchable variant) + splits/_category_select:
  add focus-within:ring-4 focus-within:ring-alpha-black-200
  (with theme-dark variant) on the wrapper around the embedded
  search input. The embedded variant intentionally has no own
  focus ring so it inherits chrome from its parent panel — but
  the two current parent panels were not providing one, so
  keyboard focus on the dropdown search box rendered with no
  visible indicator. Ring matches the .form-field token used
  across the design system.

* fix(merge): repair DS::Select search input merge resolution

The previous merge of main left invalid Ruby inside the DS::SearchInput
`data:` hash:

    aria-label="<%= t("helpers.select.search_placeholder") %>"

This is an ERB string assignment masquerading as a hash entry — it does
not parse and would have raised SyntaxError at render. Two follow-ups:

- Drop the `aria-label` entry entirely. `DS::SearchInput` already
  defaults `aria_label` to `placeholder`, and `placeholder` is set
  on the call, so the resulting <input> already carries
  `aria-label="<%= t(...) %>"`.

- Restore the `input->select#syncTabindex` action that main #1848
  added on the embedded search input. It keeps the roving tabindex
  on the listbox in sync as filtered results change. Original PR
  branch had only `list-filter#filter`; reintegrate both with
  explicit `input->` event prefixes for parity with main.

- Also adds checks for parent/child changes

* fixes

- split transactions dark mode fix
- add split transactions to context menu

* Update entry.rb

1. New validation split_child_date_matches_parent — prevents saving a split child with a date different from its parent. This is the root-cause fix that
   protects all flows at once.
  2. Bulk update guard — bulk_update! now strips :date from attributes when processing split children, preventing the validation from raising and silently
   skipping the date change instead.

* N+1 fix for split_parent?

* Update entry.rb

  Problem: In bulk_update!, when a split child has :date removed from attrs (line 432) and the remaining attrs is empty (e.g., the bulk update only
  changed the date), entry.update! {} still ran as a no-op. But lock_saved_attributes! and mark_user_modified! at lines 443-444 executed unconditionally,
  incorrectly marking untouched split children as user-modified and opting them out of future syncs.

  Fix:
  1. Added a changed flag to track whether any actual modification happened
  2. Wrapped entry.update! in an if attrs.present? check so no-op updates are skipped
  3. Gated lock_saved_attributes! and mark_user_modified! behind if changed, so they only run when the entry was actually modified (either via attribute
  update or tag update)

* fixes

1. Indentation in show.html.erb Settings section — The split button block and delete block had extra indentation making them appear nested inside guard
  blocks they weren't part of. Fixed to match actual nesting.
  2. Skip @split_parents query when grouping is off — The controller now only loads split parent entries when show_split_grouped? is true, saving a query
  with joins when the feature is disabled.
